If I Were a Merriam City Councilmember
Hello reader, I'm going to talk to you about if I were a Councilwoman
for a day. I would first open an animal protection program. Animals need to be loved inside a house, rather than
outside.
Second, I would open a stop abusing program called, "Save
A Child". This will help parents to express themselves by talking to someone, rather than hitting their children.
Third, I would open a school for kids with conditions.
For all of them to be able to be with people like them. Be able to teach them how to try and feel new things.
Finally, I would build a little building called "American
Idol Jr", for kids five through fifteen to share their singing and acting gifts with the world, because there are kids
out there who can make it big.
So there you have it. The things I think would be
wonderful for our city. Then everyone would get to interact with their community and if I could see that, then I guess
I already won something, now that's a real happily ever after.

If I Were a Merriam City Councilmember
If I were a Merriam City Councilmember,
I would make the city safer. I think the kids should be involved with what's around them. Also the kids should
be able to walk to and from school more often. The city council should make schools safer for younger kids.
I would make cleaner swimming pools, because some of the
pools are dirty (Katie clarified that she was not talking about the Merriam Pool!). Also in the summer it's
really hot and kids can't swim. We should hire people to clean the pools every other day.
Also I would make safer schools just for pre-school through second
grade. So the little kids don't get pushed around and bullied by the big kids. Also, the bigger kids
are noisy and don't care if the little kids learn or not.
I would make a voting center for kids under age eighteen because
they should have a say of who their President is going to be. Then there would be a box for kids and adults idea's
to make Merriam a better place. They should also have a say on how the city is going to be.
So kids can walk to school more often, I will put flashing
lights on all cross walks. Red lights will tell walkers to stop and green lights will tell walkers to go. They
should be on every road were they cross and it will be safer.
I would make stores safer from storms. I would add
more shelter besides just bathrooms because the little bathrooms aren't big enough for about a hundred people to get
in and be safe.
If I were a Merriam City Councilmember, I would make everything
safer than other cities. Everybody will be treated equally and fair. The kids should get more involved.
There should be safer schools for younger kids, and cleaner swimming pools so kids can swim. Make walking safer
to and from schools, and make schools safer from storms.

What I Would Do If I Were A Merriam City Councilmember
If I were a city council person I would try
to create a bike park, and try to make it so the schools would get more money out of taxes. I would also try to get
more money to the poor by holding a talent show to raise money.
The first thing I would do if I were a city council person is
to try to make a bike park. It would be just for bike riders. I would make a bike park because we don't have one
and could use one. At the bike park we would be able to do plenty of bike tricks without very many things to get in
our way. I really think the bike park will turn out to be a success, and for the grand opening, I think we could have a
contest and the contest would be to see who could do the best, and most bike tricks in a certain amount of time. For
the grand prize we could give forty-five dollars.
Another thing I would do if I were a City Councilperson is to
try to give more money from taxes to schools. Schools have hard working people that don't get paid very much, and if
it weren't for them not many people would be educated. So if we can give more money to schools the people working there
will get paid more. Another reason I believe that we should give more money to schools is so the schools would be able
to afford more things for class projects. Also maybe the kids that go to school would like school more and want to learn
more about the subjects that they hated.
One more thing I would try is to give more money to charity and
the homeless so that hopefully they would someday find a nice, warm home to live in, like everybody else does. In order
to pay for all this I would see if I could hold a talent show to pay for all these things. We'll put a box out for donations
for if they like the show. If we're able to collect enough money, we'll probably be able to afford all this I have said.
After that, Merriam would be a better place to live, and hopefully Merriam will have more citizens. The citizens of
Merriam would be able to enjoy themselves more than they could before the changes.
